What squiggli does

squiggli is an e-signature API. Your software sends a document; each person signs it in their browser, on any device, with no account; you get back the signed PDF and a completion certificate. Your app hears about every step through webhooks, and your AI agent can do all of it through the MCP server.

How it fits together

Piece	What it is
Envelope	One thing to be signed: one or more documents, the people who sign, and the fields they fill. It moves from draft to sent to signed.
Document	A PDF in the envelope. Upload your own, or render a template.
Signer	A person who signs. They get their own link by email, or you show it in your app.
Field	A place on a page to sign, initial, date, tick or type, assigned to one signer.
Template	A reusable document with {{variables}} and fields by role (tenant, landlord).
Webhook	A URL on your server squiggli calls when something happens.

Built for AI agents

Everything a person can do in the web app, an agent can do through the API or the MCP server. Errors explain how to fix themselves, every write takes an Idempotency-Key so retries are safe, and there is a guide written for agents at /llms-full.txt. Start at Connect your AI.

Test mode

Test documents are free and unlimited. They work exactly like live ones but are watermarked "TEST - NOT LEGALLY BINDING", and their emails start with [Test]. Use a sq_test_ key, or send "test": true with a live key. Every new account gets a test key straight away.
